What makes a skincare brand go from clinic staple to global phenomenon? According to Dr Yannis Alexandrides, founder of 111Skin and a triple-board-certified plastic surgeon, it comes down to purpose, precision, and a relentless commitment to the skin. In his own words, these are the defining principles behind one of beauty’s most quietly revolutionary brands.

1. The Heart of Our Brand

Since day one, our mission has been to provide products with clinical-strength efficacy that also offer a luxurious, sensorial experience. Whilst my expertise lies within the science and product innovation, I have my wife Eva to credit for bringing the brand to life. Eva has a unique connection to our customers and understands that skincare is more than just beauty. It’s self-care, which evokes feelings of joy and instils confidence within our customers. We pay a lot of attention to our product textures, scent, as well as packaging and experience.

2. Innovation That Starts in the Operating Room

The intersection of medical expertise and cutting-edge ingredient technology. For us, innovation is not a marketing buzzword. It’s informed by my daily practice. As a triple-board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I see firsthand the skin concerns patients face and work to solve them through science.

3. From ER to Outer Space: The Birth of NAC Y²™

Our hero complex NAC Y²™ was inspired by NAC’s powerful use in emergency rooms to accelerate healing and even in space to slow skin ageing in astronauts. I created a slow-release topical formula with encapsulated NAC, enhanced by Vitamin C and Escin to shield and repair the skin.

4. Skincare Is a Daily Ritual, Not Just a Routine

Skincare and wellbeing go hand in hand. Investing in quality products and adopting a consistent, daily skincare routine not only nourishes your skin but also your mind and soul. It is a daily practice that can form a nourishing ritual.

5. Regenerative Medicine Is the Future of Skincare

Regenerative medicine is making its way into skincare. Exosomes particularly excite me. They can be extremely effective thanks to their power to promote cell-to-cell communication within the skin. They act as messengers that tell other cells how to behave, for example, to reduce inflammation or to stimulate collagen production. We have an exciting product launching later this year that benefits from this innovation!

6. Global Beauty Needs a Global Perspective

From Crete to the Middle East, every place I visit adds something to how I see beauty and wellbeing. Travel has been one of my greatest teachers: in Crete, I’m inspired by simplicity, the sea, sunlight, and slowness. In the Middle East, I see beauty as heritage-rich and deeply sensorial. These cultural insights, along with my personal commitment to daily movement and mindfulness, whether through yoga, running or HIIT, shape the products we create and how we connect with our community around the world.

7. Skin Goals Should Start with Honesty, Not Assumptions

As a plastic surgeon, people will often assume that surgeries and treatments are the only solution to achieving a skin goal. However, I am very transparent with my patients and have an honest dialogue about the best methods that can help get their skin into the best condition. That means that skincare and lifestyle changes are equally great tools to use, depending on the desired outcome.

Growth isn’t always linear. Skin and success both need time.
