The Lowdown:
Some trips are planned. Others find you. For Amina Mohamed, this was the latter, a spontaneous escape turned Mediterranean dreamscape, shared with her childhood best friends Nasteha and Nuni Yusuf aboard the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s Luminara on its maiden voyage. What unfolded was a heady mix of sea air, vintage fashion, skincare rituals, and the kind of joy that only comes from being completely present.
A constellation of icons, including Adriana Lima, Kate Hudson, and Nina Dobrev, joined for the two-day preview. Between poetic portraits by artist JR, Cédric Grolet’s patisserie creations, and a surprise set by Sting under the Sicilian sky, the experience blurred the line between travel and art.
There were golden hour aperitivos with Martha Stewart, live performances by Ellie Goulding, Kygo, and Janelle Monáe, and quiet mornings watching the Mediterranean shimmer. No big itinerary. Just moments, unexpected, unfiltered, and unforgettable.
Getting There
“Surprisingly seamless,” Amina says. The group flew into Barcelona, checked into Hotel Arts for a night of city wandering and soft landings, before boarding Luminara the next morning. “We couldn’t have asked for a smoother start.”
Room with a View
“The dreamiest suite with a private balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. Waking up to that view felt like a movie.”
The Glam Check
Diptyque amenities graced every bathroom, but the real skincare standout was in the spa: a full-circle partnership with 111SKIN. “Think 90-minute Celestial Black Diamond facials and body-sculpting treatments. It was giving space-age skincare at sea.”
Her Wellness Kit
“I packed more wellness than outfits,” Amina laughs. Her carry-on included Cymbiotika glutathione and elderberry sachets for immune support, daily collagen sticks, mineral SPF (plus spray, always), and her full AB skincare lineup, all kept chilled in a soon-to-launch Skin Deep insulated beauty bag.
Style Notes
Her wardrobe was straight from a ‘90s moodboard: “Soft, feminine vibes all week. Vintage Cavalli, Jean Paul Gaultier, and the most Sarah Jessica Parker-inspired two-piece from Lime that looked way more expensive than it was.”
The Food Front
Even as a self-proclaimed picky eater, the onboard food “blew her away.” Favourites included Korean-Japanese fusion spot Hasu-Bit and Seta su Ilma, an 11-course tasting experience curated by Michelin-starred chef Fabio Trabocchi. “Unforgettable.”
Daily Highlights
From daily deck Pilates to Mallorca beach days, late-night dancing to private matcha-making sessions, the trip was a full-circle celebration. “Tanned, spa’d, danced, laughed endlessly. Travel really is unmatched when you’re with the right people. Peak enjoyment.”
